Carna Cashel v Glenamaddy - result

Carna Cashel 1 - 12    Glenamaddy 2 - 8

Our Intermediate team played their last competitive game for 2010 on Saturday last when they played Carna Cashel  in Carna. The game ended on a  final score of Carna 1-12 to Glenamaddy 2-8 which resulted in us being relegated to Intermediate B.

We led 1-4 to 0-3 at half time with the goal coming from the boot of Thomas Curtin.  Early in the second half Carna scored a point and then a goal to level the game but Glenamaddy came back to force their way into the lead again. Carna then scored another  three points but  Glenamaddy kept focused and were rewarded with a second goal from Shane Mannion.

Try as they might though Glenamaddy couldn't hold on to the lead and at the final whistle Carna were ahead by 1 point. This was not the first game that had escaped Glenamaddy by one point, it being the third time the Glenamaddy lads had found themselves in this position during the course of the season. This was though one of the better fought games by the team and they should be proud of the effort they put in throughout the year and especially in this final game.

We wish Liam Conneally our vice-captain all the best as he heads to Australia and look forward to his return again to our club in the near future. Thanks to Pat Connolly, Paul Devlin and Aidan Burke for their commitment to this team throughout the championship and league campaign.

Panel: Barry Curtin, Noel Fahy, John Keaveney, Luke Conneally, Aaron Hynes, Aidan Geraghty 0-1, Patrick Conneally, Shane Mannion 1-0, Barry Conneally, Liam Conneally, Aidan Hanley, Sean Conneally, Stephen Joyce, James McHugh, Thomas Curtin 1-6.
Subs used: Fionan Keady 0-1, Kenneth Keaveney, Keith Davis, Anthony Divilly and Michael Geraghty.

U12 BOYS VICTORIOUS

U12 Boys proudly displaying their trophy at Tuam Stadium last Sunday - 10th October

Pride of place this week goes to our U12 boys who beat St. Brendans 2-10 to 3-5 in the North Board Final last Sunday in Tuam Stadium.  St. Brendans led 1-4 to 0-3 at half time  after dominating for most of the first half, but in the first 5 minutes of the second half Glenamaddy put their stamp on the game scoring a goal and 2 points which put them in the lead for the first time. Bravely our boys fought hard to keep this lead at all times. Although St.Brendans hit the back of the net on two more occasions they were denied more scores due to the excellent work of goalkeeper Ciaran Feirne.

Glenamaddy had some fine individual displays, and an excellent overall panel display, with names like Mark Dolan, Patrick Raftery, Jack Divilly, Michael Heneghan, Padraic Geraghty and Cormac Haslam making for a bright future for Glenamaddy underage football. Several of this panel are U12 again next year and we wish the panel members involved in the U13 team the best of luck in their competition. A special thanks to Pat Geraghty, Alphy O’Brien, Pat Collins and Michael Heneghan for training this team and also to the parents and supporters  for their continued involvement and support throughout the year. The team travelled home to a warm welcome en-route from proud supporters who had lit fires to mark this great win. The panel and supporters continued their celebrations in the Oakland hotel where hot food was served. Thanks again to all concerned.

Panel: Ciaran Feirne, Danny O’Rourke, Cormac Haslam 0 -1, Niall Conneally, Patrick Raftery, Mark Dolan 1-3, Conor Raftery, Sean Raftery, Padraic Geraghty 1-1, MacDara Geraghty, Jack Divilly, Damien Smith 0-1, Darragh Keaveney, Michael Heneghan 0 - 4, Joseph Hegarthy, Thomas O'Brien, Darragh Feirne, Oisin Burke and Eoin Collins.
