2010 AGM

After being postponed from 18th December, due to bad weather, the 2010 AGM was held at the clubhouse on Saturday 8th January.

Michael Curtin opened the well attended meeting with a prayer for all deceased family, relatives and friends of members who had died during the past 12 months.

Secretary Mary Davis then gave an account of the club's activities throughout the year.  She thanked all under-age management teams and congratulated the U12 boys who won the North Championship, and the U13s who won the North League Final. She also congratulated the U14 team who reached the league and championship semi-finals; the U15s who reached the North Board League final, and the U16s who reached the Shield Final.
Mary went on to congratulate Cathal Hynes who won the Galway Feile Skills Competition and thanked James Burke, Cathal Hynes, Liam Glynn and Peter Thomas Keaveney who attended the U14 Development Squad, and Michael Fox and Cormac Raftery who attended the U16 Development Squad.
Mary included in her report the Minor and U21 panel amalgamation with Glinsk, under the name Na Gleannta, which proved to be a very successful union, enabling players from both clubs to get more match experience within their relevant age groupings.  She thanked Paul Devlin, Stephen Neary, Sean Dowd, Trevor Nolan and Aidan Geraghty for the work which they had put into this group of young players.

Mary's report further noted that the Junior team had to withdraw early from the competition due to being unable to field a team! Also that 2010 had been a difficult year for the Intermediates culminating in their relegation to Intermediate B.  Many would say that they had been unfortunate in losing 4 games by a single point, but throughout the season the panel had suffered from the loss of several players through injury.  Mary thanked the management team of Pat Connolly, Aidan Burke and Paul Devlin for their commitment to this team, and also the physios, Ruth Costello and Brid Connolly.
A special thanks was made to all players, supporters and managements teams for their level of discipline throughout the year.  Further thanks were made to the pitch committee for their continued good work on the pitch which helped to ensure that it was maintained to a high standard throughout the year, and also to Kenneth Davis and Declan McDermott for their work both on the pitch and the surrounding grounds.

Mary thanked Glenman Construction Corporation, the club's main sponsor, for their financial assistance and support over the last number of years, and wished Michael Conneally and family every success in 2011.

The secretary extended her gratitude to Fr. Mooney, Solas Magazine, and The Tuam Herald for kindly publishing club notes throughout the year.

Mary concluded her report by thanking all club members and officers that she had worked with, and also all who had helped her during the year, and wished all players, supporters, friends and associates a very successful 2011.

Kevin Duffy, Treasurer, then went on to present a detailed balance sheet and he spoke of the ongoing costs of running the club.  Kevin stressed that for 2011 it would be necessary to make attempts to reduce all spending within the club wherever possible.  The huge annual cost of electricity must be reduced and this will involve close monitoring of the usage of the floodlights at the pitch by all who avail of the facilities.
Kevin thanked all who rented hoarding on the pitch in 2010, and he also thanked those who support and promote the weekly Lotto, and asked for the continued support of all for this invaluable source of income in the future.

In his address, club Chairman Michael Curtin thanked all members and players for their commitment to the club.  He thanked Glenman Corporation for their sponsorship, and all who have sponsored various items throughout the year.  He also thanked the pitch committee for their continued work, and also the local schools, the Lotto supporters, and all who helped in various ways throughout the year.  Also his fellow officers for their support and commitment. Michael thanked all who helped in any way throughout the year, which included linesmen, umpires, coaches, managers, players, supporters, members and to all who helped make the fundraising "Night at the Dogs" such a success.  Michael felt that the club was indeed struggling for numbers in certain areas but that the number of young players at different age groups throughout the club was encouraging.  The issue of numbers and lack of same in certain areas was debated and it was agreed that much more discussion would need to take place in the coming year.

The election of officers then took place:-
